After a year-long development and discussion stage, Falls Township supervisors have approved final plans for the new $270 million Pennsbury High School, writes Lacey Latch for Bucks County Courier Times.
Projected to open in September 2029, the new 497,000-square-foot school will accommodate up to 3,000 students. The facility will be constructed along Hood Boulevard on the south side of the current campus and include separate areas for bus loops, student parking, and staff parking.
Plans include a three-story academic wing, a large auditorium accommodating 1,000 people, a media center and library, and athletic facilities such as a pool and wrestling room.
The building layout places most classrooms in the center, with the physical education department, facilities, and cafeteria on one side and a three-story science wing on the other.
Multiple interior and exterior courtyards are also in the plan, along with an outdoor terrace near the gymnasium entrance.
The auditorium will be the tallest point of the project, rising to just under 50 feet, which is the zoning maximum.
Last year, the Pennsbury School Board approved a total maximum project cost of $269.5 million, with just over $212.4 million allocated for the school construction itself.
