The day may have begun with rain, but Danielle Toy and Scott Shields still got the outdoor elevated garden party wedding they dreamed of at the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm in Holicong, writes Emily Goulet for Philadelphia Magazine.
“The rain paused just in time for our first look and portraits outside, and then the skies opened up again,” said Toy.
Inside the circa-1740 manor house, the couple waited until the rain passed and the summer sun broke through again. The ceremony unfolded outdoors, with Shields’s uncle officiating. Guests enjoyed an al fresco cocktail hour before heading into the grand, refurbished barn for the reception.
Bucks County planner Courtney Space and Paige Drake of Pridmore Floral Design in Perkasie transformed the venue with a lush garden theme.
“Since the grounds at Barley Sheaf are so lush in the summer months, I wanted to play up the garden party feel, so the florals were one of the main design components,” said Toy.
As a result, long tables overflowed with roses, peonies, and ranunculus in vibrant hues, complemented by a suspended floral installation that anchored the room.
