Despite a Burst Pipe, Restaurant in Croydon Continues Community Service

Croydon’s Giovanni’s Dillicious Pickles owner Gabby Favoroso is still finding ways to help the homeless despite closing due to a burst pipe.

Earlier this month, a pipe burst in the apartment above Giovanni’s Dillicious Pickles in Croydon, forcing the business to close temporarily, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The restaurant has become a safe place for many in the homeless community who turn to the owner, Gabby Favoroso, for food and shelter from the weather.

When one man turned up looking for some water after their closure, Favoroso knew she had to do something to keep up their community service efforts.

“There were people who supported our business since the beginning and now they couldn’t afford groceries. So, we asked people who had extra food to drop it off. It’s a very small pantry, but it got some traction,” she said.

While the business is closed for repairs, the food pantry will remain open, with information available on the business’ Facebook.

To help cover costs as the staff waits for their insurance to come through, a GoFundMe was set up on their behalf.

“Payroll is the priority. Just because we stopped bringing in an income doesn’t mean our employees stopped having to pay their bills. We want to take care of them because they take care of us,” she said.
