Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol has doubled its Intensive Care Unit capacity after the recent completion of a major expansion, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.
Hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, and frontline medical professionals were joined earlier this week by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick at the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the expansion. Fitzpatrick played a key role in securing $1.2 million in Community Project Funding for the hospital.
With this expansion, the unit’s bed count has increased from 10 to 22, while its core infrastructure has been modernized through the addition of a patient monitoring system, specialized cardiac ICU beds, and upgraded call and security systems.
The expansion comes just weeks after an explosion at Silver Lake Nursing Home, during which Lower Bucks Hospital operated under “extraordinary conditions” to care for victims, according to Fitzpatrick.
“I was on site in the immediate aftermath and walked the command post with Governor Shapiro,” he added. “What I witnessed was professionalism, skill, and compassion at the highest level. This expansion ensures that such care is supported by the infrastructure required to deliver it—every day, and in every circumstance.”
