Warminster’s Burpee Launches Patriotic Flower Seeds for Semiquincentennial

Burpee Gardening in Warminster is celebrating the nation’s 250th birthday by partnering with the Museum of the American Revolution.

Warminster-based Burpee Gardening is marking the nation’s 250th birthday by partnering with the Museum of the American Revolution to create a Declaration Bouquet collection of five new flowers inspired by the words from the Declaration of Independence and the national anthem, writes Liz Grossman for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The collection, which debuted on Dec. 1, includes the cheerful “happiness” morning glory, blue with a glowing pink center; the “star-spangled” marigold with white layered petals symbolizing Old Glory’s stars; and the butter-yellow “independence” gaillardia, along with the fiery orange “liberty” cosmos and the purple “freedom” verbena.

“We wanted to bring the words to life in a flower that embodied them,” said Burpee president and CEO Jamie Mattikow.

Priced at $34.95, the full collection is available in the museum’s gift shop and through Burpee.

It includes five seed packets, eight labels, a keepsake Declaration of Independence card, along with directions on how to get the best results during planting and growing.

“The Declaration Bouquet was part of a larger effort of making America’s 250th special for gardeners,” said Mattikow.

Burpee is also celebrating its 150 years in business in 2026 with a Historic Breakthroughs collection of heirloom seeds.
