This past week, Vogue announced that Quakertown’s Sabrina Carpenter is joining the 2026 Met Gala host committee, writes Rosa Cartagena for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The pop star will be joining 15 other celebrities on the committee, including model Paloma Elsesser, K-pop performer Lisa, ballerina Misty Copeland, actor Gwendoline Christie, and vocalist Sam Smith.
Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, Beyoncé, and Anna Wintour of American Vogue and Condé Nast are co-chairing the event.
The gala is taking inspiration from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute’s “Costume Exhibit,” coming in spring 2026.
The clothing, paired with the museum’s artworks, will examine “depictions of the dressed body across the Met’s vast collection” and “reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body.”
Carpenter has previously attended the fashion event three times and recently appeared in a Louis Vuitton pinstripe bodysuit.
The singer concluded her “Short n’ Sweet” tour last month and is up for six Grammy Awards for song and record of the year, album of the year, and best video for her hit “Manchild.”
Carpenter isn’t the first Philadelphia area local to take on a role in the Met Gala.
West Philly native and actor Colman Domingo, who starred in Carpenter’s “Tears” music video, was co-chair for the 2025 Met Gala.
