For decades, Byers’ Choice in Chalfont has been crafting its iconic figurines, helping to decorate homes across the country for the holidays, reports Christie Ileto for 6abc.
There are 40 artisans in the production facility who handcraft, paint, dress, and accessorize each figure.
The business was started by Joyce Byers almost fifty years ago.
“She began making the carolers really as Christmas decorations for around the house, for friends and family members,” said Joyce’s grandson Jake Byers, the company’s Director of Sales.
Joyce attended Drexel University, where she received an arts degree. After seeing similar figurines, she decided to make her own, and a demand for more soon followed.
Byers’ Choice currently makes over 50,000 figurines a year, with the most made during the holiday season.
Painters can identify which figures they helped to create because of their slight differences in details, like their eyelashes, expressions, and the highlights in their eyes.
“Being American-made is an incredibly important part of our product, all the talk about tariffs and products being outsourced in different parts of the country. We’re so blessed to be able to work with people in our community that we love,” he said.
