PHL Set for 1st International Flight for 2026 World Cup, report says

PHL will have Volunteer Navigators in place to greet and help international visitors arriving at Philadelphia International Airport for the 2026 World Cup and other planned celebrations in Philadelphia.

The first international flights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will likely be here in June to see Curacao play Ivory Coast, writes Emma Dooling and Ellen Cagle for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Turkish leisure airline Corendon Airlines will have four charter flights between PHL and Curacao from June 23 to June 27, carrying a total of 852 supporters, according to Curacao.nu, a news source for Curacao.

A PHL spokesperson said the airport could not confirm the flights.

Curaçao plays Ivory Coast at Lincoln Financial Field on June 25, at 4 p.m.

Expanded commercial and charter flight activity was expected following the release of the group stage match schedule on Dec. 6, Chief Commercial Officer Kate Sullivan said in an emailed statement.

The Curacao/Ivory Coast match is one of five that Philadelphia is hosting in the group play stage of the tournament.

The city hosts a sixth game in the tournament’s Round of 16 on July 4.

Philadelphia is expected to draw more than 500,000 fans worldwide for the six World Cup matches.

About 17,000 guests representing 126,000 room nights are expected across the region during the World Cup, according to Airbnb.
