A 107-room hotel and restaurant in Middletown is under construction in anticipation of the tourists that will be flocking to the area in 2026, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Drexel Hill firm Metro Philly Management is building the Hilton Garden Inn at 1278 W. Baltimore Pike. The 67,000 square-foot hotel is expected to open before the end of 2025, according to CEO Patrick Burns.
Overnight demand is expected in 2026 when several events take place in the Greater Philadelphia area.
“We’ve seen that area out there growing, and we just think there’s a great opportunity there to put a hotel,” Burns said.
Those include the PGA Championship in Newtown Square, the FIFA World Cup, some of which will involve Subaru Park in Chester, the MLB All-Star Game, and the celebration of the national 250th anniversary.
The PGA event alone is expected to draw 200,000 people to Delaware County’s Aronimink Golf Club.
Metro Philly Management owns and manages the Courtyard Philadelphia Springfield hotel and the Fairfield Inn & Suites Philadelphia Broomall.
It also owns Shoprite and Fresh Grocer locations, the Springfield Country Club, two restaurants, and a marketing company.
