Levittown Sister’s Love Keeps Her Half-Siblings Out of Foster Care

When her four half-siblings were about to be put into foster care, Levittown’s Taylor Bowers stepped up and took them into her home.

Taylor Bowers, a Levittown resident, stepped up in her family’s time of need when her four half-siblings were going to be put into foster care, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.

In April of 2017, the Department of Human Services arrived for her 13-, 12-, 9- and 7-year-old siblings in Northeast Philadelphia after their mother was no longer able to care for them.

At only 24 years old and with a 5-year-old daughter, Bowers took in her siblings.

“She dropped her life to give us a better life,” said her brother Luke Quitola. “It was a lot. She never hesitated to help us. She was always there, no matter what.”

Bowers officially adopted the four children on Dec. 9, 2019.

The house was busy, between Bowers’ siblings and her own three children, but the family did everything they could to make it work.

Bowers had to drop out of nursing school but was finally able to return two years ago. She now works nights at St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown.

Quitola, now 18, is incredibly grateful for his sister’s actions, which have allowed him great opportunities. He’s now the team leader of Harry S. Truman High School’s football team.

“Grateful doesn’t even come close to (explaining how I feel about Bowers),” he said. “She’s an absolute saint in my eyes.”
