Southampton Developer Teams Up with Philly Firm for Boutique Rental Project in Old City

Core Development and property manager Host Aid have partnered to open a boutique stay property in Old City.

Southampton-based Core Development and Philadelphia-based property manager Host Aid have joined forces to open The Diplomat, a boutique stay property in Old City, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The short-term rental that is expected to open in January, is designed for large travel groups who prefer staying together in multiple-bedroom accommodations, instead of in single studios or one-bedroom hotel rooms.

“We wanted to create a niche where we don’t actually compete with hotels, so very different than [apartment-style] Sonders or hotels,” said Core Development Principal George Kyrtsis.

The Diplomat will feature four units across the top three floors of a four-story building. Three units will have four bedrooms and four bathrooms each, while one unit will have five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

On the building’s ground floor, Core Development and Host Aid are looking for an operator to run a dining concept, with a coffee shop or wine bar as the preferred option for the 1,500-square-foot space.

Core Development and Host Aid have already begun exploring additional opportunities to bring more boutique properties to the Philadelphia area.
