Paranormal Team Investigates Haunted Summerseat Mansion in Morrisville

Paranormal research team Olde City Paranormal investigated the haunted Summerseat mansion and will reveal what they found at a fundraiser event.

Members of the paranormal research team, Olde City Paranormal, were eager to explore the supposedly haunted Historic Summerseat mansion in Morrisville, writes John McDevitt for KYW Newsradio.

The mansion was constructed in the 1760s and was formerly owned by George Clymer and Robert Morris, two signers of the Declaration of Independence. The property was also the military headquarters for George Washington’s men for a week in December 1776.

In 1965, the mansion became a national historic landmark and is currently maintained by the Morrisville Historical Society.

Historians provide tours throughout the day, while paranormal investigators explore the property at night.

Karen Kane, the president of Historic Summerseat, confirmed that she believes the building is haunted.

“From the upstairs second floor, I hear what I call wailing, like somebody in mourning, and my mother put her hands to her face and said, ‘Oh my God, that poor woman.’ I said, ‘Mom, we are out of here,’” Kane said.

Olde City Paranormal was the most recent team to investigate the mansion, led by Philadelphia Police Department veteran John Levy. His team consisted of a local historian and fellow police officers.

Levy will discuss what his team found during a fundraiser for the mansion on Oct. 18. From 6 to 9 PM, he will recount his findings and give guests a special tour.

Reservations for the event are required, and tickets can be purchased for $25.
