Buckingham real estate investor and builder Bob Welch is hoping to breathe new life into the historic General Greene Inn, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
Welch has signed agreements to buy the building located at the intersection of Durham and Old York roads, in the heart of Buckingham Township.
The deal was announced by Supervisor Paul Calderaio in a Facebook advertisement.
“For many years, many people have tried to save the General Greene Inn, including myself,” said Calderaio. “Today we have an opportunity to save the General Greene Inn and I’m very happy to be here with a Buckingham resident who is very much a pillar of the community.”
Welch has previously restored Keystone properties in Doylestown and New Hope, and is now looking forward to renovating the historic Buckingham landmark, first established by Henry Jamison in 1763.
“The General Greene Inn has a special place in my heart,” he said. “I’ve always had my eye on it for years and years. I’m looking forward to giving it some love and investment because it’s a beautiful building inside and out.”
