Doylestown native Alex Matcham, who spent nearly 18 years as a producer at NFL Films, is celebrating her first year as vice president of content at NBC Sports Philadelphia, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
When she joined the company, her goal was to recreate the same energy and connection she gave fans through her behind-the-scenes NFL content and bring that to the regional sports network’s coverage.
“We’re looking to really create a sports community of fans here,” said Matcham. “With the addition of social media over the last decade or so, sports has just become so social. It’s the most together thing we do as a society. It’s something that brings us all together.”
Now with the Flyers and 76ers seasons starting, her goal is to increase fan interaction by bringing them behind the scenes and sharing the stories of players who are not making the Top 10 plays on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
She also plans to expand the use of a movie-quality camera system to make game coverage look more cinematic and immersive for viewers.
