Eastern University has completed state-of-the-art renovations to the baseball field on its St. Davids campus. The field has been completely upgraded to synthetic turf that is playable year-round and includes new dugouts, bullpens, wall padding, batting cages, a sound system, and a large video board.
Construction wrapped up in August, and the field will be used for the upcoming 2026 baseball season.
“Witnessing this vision come to life phase by phase has been incredible,” said Scott Renauro, Eastern’s baseball coach. “The completed project is even better than I had imagined, and I can’t wait to watch our talented players achieve countless wins and break personal records on this turf. This renovation will be a game-changer for Eastern baseball’s legacy for years to come.”
The new facility will not only elevate the student-athlete experience but will also provide a premier venue for fans and the broader community to gather in support of Eastern athletics. With its modern upgrades, the field stands as a symbol of school spirit, teamwork, and pride.
In 2025, the Eagles grew in number and experience while competing on the road. The young team closed the season strong with five wins in its final six games, including narrow one-run decisions against MAC Commonwealth champions and national finalist Messiah. Building on that momentum, the team looks ahead with anticipation to its debut on the new field in 2026.
“This project represents more than just an investment in facilities; it’s an investment in our student-athletes,” said Brian Bingaman, Eastern’s Interim Athletic Director. “We are committed to providing them with the resources they need to succeed, both on and off the field. This new stadium sets the stage for excellence.”
The project was funded through Eastern’s comprehensive “A Time to Rise” campaign, which has already surpassed $27 million of its $30 million goal as the university celebrates its centennial year.
“This remarkable achievement reflects the generosity and vision of our donors, alumni, and friends,” said Eastern President Ronald Matthews. “As we celebrate 100 years of God’s faithfulness to our community, this new facility demonstrates how we are preparing for the next 100 years, creating spaces where students can thrive, build community, and pursue excellence.”
