Carlino’s Market, with locations in Ardmore and West Chester, has been recognized with the Family-Owned Business Awards 2025 by the Philadelphia Business Journal, writes Lindsey Nolen for the Philadelphia Business Journal

Carlino’s was never just about the food. It is a tribute to family and heritage, as well as the values that owner Pat Carlino’s parents brought with them when they left Italy for the United States.

“We grew up on a farm,” he said. “We believe in natural products, wholesome products, real products, and we stuck to those beliefs from day one. It’s wonderful to see that people are noticing and respecting it, not only regionally, but nationally now.”

Carlino’s parents opened a small pasta and sauce shop in 1983, which eventually grew into Carlino’s Market. Today, the company employs more than 150 people.

It is known for its delicious, house-made sauces, sourdough breads, artisan pastries, and catering. Its tomato pie is still made following the family’s original recipe from more than four decades ago.

Regulars return to the market for quality food, but also for the warmth and familiarity it provides.
