Philadelphia is set to host Michelin Guide’s 2025 Northeast Cities ceremony, which could be a positive sign for local restaurants to earn more potential recognition, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Michelin North America revealed earlier this week that the announcement ceremony will be held on November 18 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on South Broad Street.
During the event, Michelin will reveal which local restaurants, if any, have received one, two, or three stars from the globally respected rating system.
The ratings are known for providing a boost to both a restaurant’s business and the city’s broader culinary scene.
Michelin partnered with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau in May to include the city’s restaurants and chefs for consideration in its Michelin Guide Northeast Cities edition. The Convention and Visitors Bureau will support marketing and promotional activities during the multi-year partnership.
The Northeast City guide also includes New York, Boston, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. restaurants.
Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec referred to Philadelphia as a “shining example of hospitality,” while the company called the city a “perfect fit” to host the ceremony because of its “vibrant culinary heritage and a thriving community of homegrown talent.”
