Those Looking to Explore Caves Can Check Out These Spots Near Bucks County

Several impressive caves near Bucks County are just an hour away from the area.

While there are no public caves left in Bucks County today, there are many nearby that are perfect for exploration, writes Jess Rohan for the Bucks County Courier Times

Lost River Caverns in Hellertown is the closest cave to the county, located just north of Springfield Township. Visitors can take tours until 5:30 PM throughout the summer, though it’s recommended to call ahead. Tours last 30 to 45 minutes, with tickets priced at $11.50 for kids and $16.50 for adults. 

Less than an hour from Upper Bucks is Marble Hill Ice Cave, located in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The cave is part of the Warren Highlands Trail, a two-mile loop known for its fascinating rock formations. 

Another spot, just an hour from Bensalem, is Beaver Valley Rock Shelter. This Wilmington location isn’t marked on a map, but it can be accessed from one of the trails in the First State National Historical Park. 

Crystal Cave, a popular tourist destination in Kutztown, is another impressive formation. Located about an hour from Quakertown, this cave offers tours until 6 or 7 PM in the summer and until 5 or 6 PM in the fall. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 4 to 11.
