Those looking to get some extra steps this summer can check out one of the many hiking trails in the Bucks County area, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol is a stunning spot with 7 miles of trails. Visitors can enjoy shaded views of Silver Lake or walk along their accessible looped trail.
Those in Falls Township can take a trip to Falls Community Park. Once a rock quarry, this park in Lower Bucks features 2.5 miles worth of paved trails. Visitors are welcome to walk around or ride their bikes.
Another great walking spot is Delaware Canal State Park, which runs along the Delaware River. The towpath spans 60 miles from Bristol to Easton.
Tyler State Park features the Stable Mill Trail and the Mill Dairy Trail, paved paths that are a bit hilly. This park in Newtown spans 1,711 acres and features beautiful views of 19th-century farmhouses.
Peace Valley Park in New Britain is another great walking spot. The county-owned land is 1,500 acres and includes 14 miles of walking trails. Lake Galena, one of the park’s attractions, is 365 acres. Paved trails loop around the majority of the lake.
