Broadway Actor Makes Bucks County Playhouse Debut in Musical Production

Actor Clyde Voce, known for his performances on and off-Broadway, is making his Bucks County Playhouse debut in the production of “She Loves Me.”

Clyde Voce, an actor known for his roles on and off Broadway, is making his Bucks County Playhouse debut in the musical production of “She Loves Me,” writes Rita Charleston for The Philadelphia Tribune. The show will run from Aug. 15 to Sept. 14.

“She Loves Me” is a musical retelling of the story that inspired the classic film “Shop Around the Corner.”

Audiences follow two feuding store clerks, Amalia and Georg, in a perfumery in the 1930s. After seeing an ad in the newspaper, the pair begin to exchange romantic letters with anonymous individuals. Little do they know, the two have more in common than they initially thought.

Voce has performed in a variety of productions, recently appearing as the first Black Willy Wonka in Broadway’s national tour.

“I was so happy to get the part,” Voce said. “It meant a lot to me and to the audience as well.”

In this newest performance, Voce will be playing Steven Kodaly, one of the other clerks in the store.

The role is not typically portrayed by Black actors, but Voce said, “The industry is beginning to see less color and more talent in assigning roles.”
