Fort Washington’s Toll Brothers Plans 74 Homes on Former Florida Golf Course

Fort Washington-based Toll Brothers plans to build 74 homes on a former golf course in Boca Raton, Florida, which has been closed since 2006.

Fort Washington-based Toll Brothers plans to build 74 homes on a former golf course in Boca Raton, Florida, which has been closed since 2006, writes Brian Bandell for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Boca Raton Executive Country Club filed land use amendment, rezoning, and site plan applications for the 55.1-acre property. The clubhouse, once part of the property, was destroyed in a fire in 2010.

Toll Brothers wants the site rezoned from “private recreation” to “residential low” to move forward with its housing plans. Home lots are expected to be around 8,250 square feet, though the luxury builder has yet to reveal details on home sizes and designs.

The plans also envision 19.6 acres of lakes, a clubhouse, pool, playground, and pickleball courts.

“The property is prime for redevelopment with a use that is consistent with the surrounding community,” stated attorney Ele Zachariades in the application on behalf of Toll Brothers. “By converting an underutilized private recreational site that has not served a purpose for the community in almost 20 years into a context-sensitive residential neighborhood, the project promotes infill development that strengthens existing infrastructure and land use patterns rather than encouraging sprawl.”
