With SEPTA’s board approving its fiscal year 2026 operating budget, cuts to critical public transportation services throughout the region, including Bucks County, are now set to take effect, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.
In addition to an average fare increase of 21.5 percent, the large-scale cutbacks outlined in the budget include an elimination of five regional rail lines and 50 bus routes. There will also be a hiring freeze and a 9 p.m. curfew for metro and regional rail services.
Additionally, 66 stations will close, service for special events will be eliminated and all remaining routes will face a 20 percent reduction in service.
In Bucks County, the Trenton rail line, which runs between the Trenton Transit Center in New Jersey and Center City Philadelphia and makes stops in Levittown, Bristol, Croydon, Eddington and Cornwells Heights, is among the planned cuts.
Bus route 127, which connects Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown with the Trenton Transit Center, and bus route 128, which travels between Oxford Valley Mall and Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem, are also slated for elimination.
