Three Students from New Hope-Solebury High School Awarded Scholarships

Three New Hope-Solebury High School graduates were awarded the Malcolm P. Crooks Scholarship.

Three recent graduates from New Hope-Solebury High School were awarded the Malcolm P. Crooks Scholarship by the Aquetong Watershed Association (AWA), writes a reporter for Funds Digest

The scholarships were given to Lila Graney, Devon Maguire and Cadence Scott during an award ceremony at the high school.

“Cadence, Devon and Lila were selected to receive AWA scholarships based on their scholastic achievements, community activities and their desire to pursue further education in the physical and environmental sciences,” said AWA’s director Jade Greene

Cadence will be attending Middlebury College in the fall, where she will be majoring in biology. Devon will be pursuing environmental science at Lehigh University. Lila will also be attending Lehigh University, where she will pursue a degree in biology.

The scholarship was created in 2013 for New Hope-Solebury High School seniors continuing their education in the field of physical sciences. Malcolm P. Crooks was a dedicated environmentalist who founded several conservation-based nonprofits like the AWA.

“The scholarship honors Malcolm’s many outstanding contributions, regionally and nationally, which has fostered a greater public appreciation for conservation and the value in protecting the environment,” said AWA Director and scholarship committee chair Les Isbrandt
