A new cheesesteak restaurant and bar coming to Media Borough will feature a European-inspired design and serve beers from the Meyers Brewing Company in Fishtown, writes Lisa Dukart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The owners of Pete’s Famous Pizza in Philadelphia are behind Jackson Street Steaks. It will open in September in the former New American BYOB House at 110 S. Jackson Street.
The 1,200-square-foot space will be gutted for a full-length bar, tables, plus outdoor seating.
The family-friendly business will be a mix of dine-in and takeout, according to owner Pete Kada, who lives in Media.
Jackson Street Steaks will have a “little bit of a European feel to it,” Kada said.
There will be cheesesteaks with a range of toppings, cutlet sandwiches, grinders, burgers, hoagies, and salads, along with taproom food like wings, chicken fingers, pretzels and fries.
Desserts include ice cream, cannolis, milkshakes, and donut bites, featuring a Dubai chocolate-themed version.
Beers, siders and hard seltzers will be sold, with beers available to go.
Jackson Street Steaks is the first suburban business for Kada and business partner Gus Pavlidis.
“In the suburbs, there’s not really a good cheesesteak,” Kada said.
