Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission Proposes Toll Increase for 2026

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission proposes toll increase set to take effect in 2026.

To offset rising construction costs, protect its strong credit ratings and support new transportation infrastructure investments, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has proposed a toll increase set to take effect in 2026, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The proposed rate adjustments would raise the E-ZPass toll for Class 1 passenger vehicles, those with two axles and under eight feet in height, by 50 cents, bringing the total to $2. Drivers in the same category without E-ZPass would see a $2 increase, paying $5 per trip.

For vehicles eight feet or taller, the E-ZPass per-axle toll would rise by $2, reaching $6.50 per axle. The corresponding Toll By Plate rate would go up $3 to an $8-per-axle toll rate.

Toll By Plate customers are charged a higher rate because it costs the commission more to identify vehicle owners and mail out bills. The most frequently used toll payment method is E-ZPass.

The commission operates 20 bridges connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey along the Delaware River. This includes eight toll bridges and 12 toll-supported bridges.
