Kelce, Sea Isle City Partnership with Mike’s Seafood Goes Beyond Food

Mike Monichetti and Jason Kelce at Mike's Seafood run and walk for Autism research in Sea Isle City in February.

Jason and Kylie Kelce are regulars at Mike’s Seafood in Sea Isle City.

So much so that one of their menu items, a Jason Kelce favorite, has been renamed Kelce’s Buffalo Shrimp, an honor that Kylie Kelce jokingly refuses to acknowledge when she places her order there, writes Matt Breen for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Mike Monichetti is the third-generation owner of the business started by his grandfather, who came to Sea Isle more than 100 years ago from Italy.

The Kelces, who live in Haverford, have a Sea Isle shore house. They have been drawn to Mike’s for more than just good seafood.

Two of Monichetti’s adult children are on the autism spectrum, and Monichetti has organized a run-and-walk fundraiser every February for 18 years to raise money for autism research.

For the past three years, the Kelces, who have also long supported autism research, have organized their own event, the Team 62 Fundraiser at Ocean Drive, to support the Eagles Autism Foundation. The fourth annual event takes place today, June 25.

“The Lord brings people into each other’s lives. Somehow, Jason made his way into Mike’s Seafood,” Moichetti said.

Learn how the Kelces’ connection to Mike’s Seafood goes far beyond the menu and why their support means so much to the community in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
