Just Across the Way, Lambertville is Treasure Trove for Antique Lovers

Lambertville, just across the Delaware River, features some of the best antique shops to explore.

Just across the Delaware River, Lambertville is a prime destination for antique lovers, where they can touch, buy, and take home a piece of history, writes Emmett Brooks for the Family Destination Guide.

Founded in 1705 and incorporated in 1849, the town prospered during the Industrial Revolution due to its advantageous position along the Delaware and Raritan Canal.

The town’s history is evident in its distinctive streetscapes, lined with sturdy brick buildings, elegant Victorian homes, and repurposed industrial spaces that retain their authentic character.

Lambertville’s main attraction is its thriving antique scene, which appeals to both seasoned collectors and curious browsers from the region and beyond.

The People’s Store Antiques Center sits at the heart of this scene, housed in a stunning 1839 stone building that was once a stagecoach stop. Over 40 dealers offer everything from porcelain teacups to oak dining tables to much more spread across three floors.

Meanwhile, the Golden Nugget Antique Market hosts both indoor and outdoor vendors year-round. On weekends, the market transforms into a bustling bazaar, undeterred by rain, wind, or cold.

Specialty stores such as America Antiques & Design add to the experience, with curated selections for more discerning tastes.
