The Rosenthal family celebrated Father’s Day a bit differently this year, honoring husband and father Mark by golfing at his grave, writes Rosa Cartagena for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
After Mark suddenly passed away from a heart attack when he was 60, his wife Robin and their children, Emma and Sam, found unique ways to celebrate his life.
The Rosenthals have become internet-famous for their TikTok and Instagram videos featuring the family at Huntingdon Valley’s Shalom Memorial Park.
The family has done everything from sprinkling French fries on his grave to setting up a kiddie pool.
They’ve found that the best way to remember Mark is to turn every special occasion and anniversary into a celebration.
Robin, who was initially apprehensive about appearing online, now loves sharing videos that show how her family copes with grief.
“A lot of people that didn’t know how to express their grief reach out to us, saying, like, ‘Oh, I didn’t know I could laugh about my loved one,’” said Emma. “I think it’s cool that we’ve shown a different side of grief, because grief isn’t always sadness.”
The family now has over 1.7 million TikTok followers and 800,000 on Instagram.
