Yardley Couple’s Carved Owl Stump Could Become New Town Landmark

In Yardley, a wise-looking owl sculpture carved from a tree stump has recently appeared, catches the eye of many passing drivers.

In Yardley, a new owl sculpture carved from a tree stump is turning heads. Cindy and Lampros Fatsis commissioned Ukrainian-born artist Viacheslav Kuzema to transform the nine-foot stump in their front yard.

Known for turning stumps into art across the region, Kuzema’s work now brings joy and curiosity to the neighborhood.

Though many assume the owl honors Temple University, the idea came from the stump’s flat top, which resembled an owl’s head. The couple hopes the piece becomes a local landmark. “Creating art is important,” said Cindy. “It brings people together.”

One passerby called it “really awesome” and “so cool.”
