The New Britain Borough Council has approved the intermunicipal transfer of a liquor license to HG Coal Fired Pizza, the new Italian restaurant that is set to open soon on East Butler Avenue, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The beer and wine-only license, previously assigned to HG Bucks County Bagels in Warminster, will be converted into a full-service restaurant license.
The new eatery will be located in the former home of Forlano’s Italian Restaurant. Renovations have already started to convert the space into a bar as well as a full-service Italian family restaurant.
“We’re going to make it look nice,” said the owner.
The renovations will add more than 75 seats and include a year-round patio designed to open during warmer months.
“Right now the place is not big enough,” said the owner. “We only have 52 seats. The kitchen is big but we need more dining space.”
The restaurant, which will specialize in coal-fired pizza, is expected to open in four to five months.
The family owns several Coal Fired Pizza locations across the region, including in Doylestown Borough, Warrington, Chesterbrook, and Oreland.
