So, where’s the best spot to get a fresh, perfectly crafted hoagie? Reporters from the Inquirer looked for the best hoagie spots in the Greater Philadelphia area and two locations in Delaware County were highlighted by Craig LaBan in The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The first place mentioned is A Cut Above Deli located at 3523 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square. Michael and Traci Carneglia opened the deli in 1995.
Their menu features classic hoagies, hot sandwiches, clubs and salads all made with the best fresh ingredients. Known for its seeded rolls, this spot has won the Best of Main Line award for its sandwiches.
The Cut Above Italian is their most popular item while the hot beef hoagie is another fan favorite, with fresh roast beef cut by Michael himself.
The second spot to check out is Ro-Lynn Delicatessen at 3407 Edgmont Ave. in Brookhaven. This Italian deli was first founded by the Carmolino family in 1965. Two former employees, Dave Avicolli and Steve Yancey, later purchased it in 1988.
Their menu features an array of items including hot and cold sandwiches, soups and salads. The cutlet special and the Italian hoagie, named the Godfather, are their most popular dishes made with quality ingredients.
