For Mitchell & Ness, 2025 is a year of new beginnings as the vintage sports apparel company has made three major announcements, writes Jake Blumgart for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The company has announced that it will be moving to a larger location in Center City, more specifically at the 16,000 square-foot retail space on Walnut Street that currently houses Brooks Brothers.
The new space will be quadruple the size of its current location. The move is anticipated to happen in the second half of 2025.
In addition to the move, Mitchell & Ness has named a new president in Emilie Arel, who replaced former CEO Eli Kumekpor as of last month.
Arel has 20 years of leadership experience in retail, apparel, and direct-to-consumer businesses.
The two combined announcements are a representation of the brand’s renewed commitment to the city, 121 years after it was founded.
Scott Benson, a broker for Metro Commercial, who represented Mitchell & Ness in the move, said the deal “will be used as a prototype to hopefully expand into other major markets for them.”
The third announcement is that Mitchell & Ness will be opening a new East Coast headquarters at Three Logan Square on Arch Street.
