Jenkintown is about to get a fresh new shopping option, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.
Giant Food Stores prepares to open its first location in the borough. The 50,000-square-foot supermarket, located at Old York Road and Wyncote Road, is part of a redevelopment project aimed at enhancing the area.
This new addition is part of Giant’s continued expansion in the Philadelphia region, bringing over 100 jobs to the local community. John Ruane, interim president of The GIANT Company, expressed excitement about serving Jenkintown families with fresh options and a convenient shopping experience.
“With a decades-long history of serving Montgomery County, we are excited to bring Giant to Jenkintown,” he said.
While the official opening date is still under wraps, the new store will join 21 other Giant locations in Montgomery County, where the company already employs nearly 3,900 team members.
Founded in 1923 in Carlisle, PA, Giant now operates 193 stores across five states, offering in-store and online shopping experiences to millions.
