IKEA, the Swedish furniture giant with its U.S. headquarters in Conshohocken, has struck gold with the latest throwback furniture line, which is rapidly selling out everywhere, writes Tina Chadha for the House Beautiful.
To mark its 80th anniversary, IKEA has reintroduced iconic vintage pieces from the archives, reimagined in vibrant colors that are guaranteed to banish the winter blues.
The Nytillverkad collection became an instant hit after it debuted last April, with items such as the stackable Scandi-style Domsten stools from the 1970s – now sporting perky orange, green, or lilac legs – and the 1982 Tuvkornell candle holder set.
The sixth and final edition of the anniversary collection launched this month, featuring standout pieces such as chairs from the 1960s to 1980s, customizable shelving, playful prints, and curvy vases.
“Simply adding one piece from this collection will make a statement, with items that can also change form and color to fit each individual home,” said Karin Gustavsson, creative leader of the Nytillverkad collection.
She added that the common thread throughout the collection is that every piece evokes a sense of joy. The series currently offers a total of 50 items.
