Freedom Village at Brandywine embraced the excitement of the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff run by turning team spirit into a powerful force for good.

Through a creative initiative that combined football fandom with philanthropy, residents and staff raised funds for disaster relief and collected food donations to support the local community.

Throughout the NFL playoffs, Freedom Village staff members had the opportunity to show their Eagles pride by donating $2 each Friday to wear team gear to work.

The funds raised through this spirited effort were contributed to the LeadingAge Disaster Relief Fund, providing crucial support for those affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

This initiative resulted in a generous $500 donation to aid in recovery efforts.

As the Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl, the community’s charitable efforts expanded with the launch of “Soup for the Super Bowl.”

 Instead of monetary donations, staff members donated nonperishable canned goods in exchange for the opportunity to wear Eagles gear to work on Fridays.

Thanks to their generosity, Freedom Village collected and donated 200 pounds of food to the Chester County Food Bank, helping to combat food insecurity in the region.

“Giving back is an integral part of our community at Freedom Village,” said Freedom Village Executive Director Danielle Geyer. “This initiative not only strengthened our Eagles’ pride but also reinforced our commitment to supporting those in need. We are incredibly proud of our residents and staff for their enthusiasm and generosity.”
