When Jason Kelce made the jump to ESPN with his own late night talk show, a part of Ridley costumer James May went with him, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.
May, a Rose Valley resident, is the owner of the James May Costume Co. in Ridley Township.
He’s the guy that outfitted Kelce with the Mummers suit and hat during the 2018 Super Bowl victory parade.
So when Kelce debuted his show, “They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce” this past Saturday, he asked May for a custom flashy suit to wear.
May, who has outfitted thousands of Mummers, brides and others for more than 50 years, put the retired Philadelphia Eagle in a pink, gold, and green suit.
But accepted no money.
“Whatever money that you would pay me to make this suit, you can just donate to Mummers Against Cancer,” May said he told Kelce.
The 83-year-old Ridley costumer, officially retired, has already donated about $75,000 from the sale of Kelce fan Mummers hats to charity.
He did the same when he made thousands of pandemic masks for frontline workers, school children and educators, asking only for a charitable donation.
