Bucks County Man, Supported by Local Venture Capitalist, Competing for Pennsylvania GOP Chair Position
Ted Christian, a Bucks County native and state director for the Trump campaign in 2016, is running for the Pennsylvania GOP chair position, writes Julia Terruso for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Christian made the announcement during a Pennsylvania Society event in Manhattan. During that same Young Republicans event, Bucks County venture capitalist Paul Martino, who funded a number of conservative suburban school board members three years ago, said he would back Christian with a $100,000 investment in his campaign.
Martino said 56-year-old Christian has pulled him back into the political scene. Christian has made his interest in the position known to Republican committee members in recent months.
“There’s a generational shift that needs to happen in the party,” said Martino. “As old as Trump is, he’s made inroads, and I feel like our current leadership, with the ‘wait your turn’ philosophy, is never gonna get us there.”
Christian is trying to dethrone current Pennsylvania GOP chair Lawrence Tabas. The 71-year-old is the longtime general counsel to the Republican Party and has served as state party chair since 2019. However, he is yet to announce whether he will seek reelection.
