Anastasia The Musical has taken the stage at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, perfectly timed for the holiday season, writes Alicia Vitarelli for 6abc.

The timeless story, inspired by the beloved movies, follows Anya as she sets out to discover her past and reclaim her royal destiny.

“I mean, Once Upon a December, when you hear that music box, it’s just transcendent,” said Lyda Jade Harlan, who plays Anya/Anastasia. “You’re somewhere else.”

The play is filled with familiar hits from a Tony Award-winning team and centers on discovering who you are and defining who you are meant to be.

“I saw the Broadway production my sophomore year of high school on a choir field trip, and I fell in love with the show,” said Harlan. “I really fell in love with the story. It’s based on tragic, true events.”

In the play, Anastasia, the Russian Grand Duchess, survives the execution of her family but develops amnesia and has to find her way back. The story is perfect for the holiday season and great for the whole family to enjoy.
