The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority is allocating $17 million for a major sewer and wastewater improvement project in Upper Dublin Township and Ambler Borough, writes Emily Neil for the WHYY.
The project involves the construction of a watertight pump station and other upgrades to Upper Dublin’s sewer system. It also includes the installment of a new pressurized pipe to an Ambler treatment plant. The pipe will use pumps or compressors to move wastewater to an Ambler treatment plant.
These upgrades will enhance the wastewater treatment capacity in both Upper Dublin Township and Ambler Borough.
“The Upper Dublin capital improvement project is another example of our commitment to making necessary upgrades to enhance an aging infrastructure on behalf of ratepayers and the communities we serve,” said Benjamin Jones, CEO of BCWSA.
Upper Dublin’s current wastewater treatment plant is located in a floodplain. Once the project is completed in early 2026, the 71-year-old facility will be taken out of commission.
Meanwhile, Mary Aversa, Ambler Borough manager, said that the planned upgrades will benefit residents of Ambler Borough and Lower Gwynedd, Whitpain, Whitemarsh, and Upper Dublin townships.
