The Bucks County Water & Sewer Authority (BCWSA) is urging all customers to conserve water due to excessive heat, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.
With recent heat waves increasing water demand, the Warrington-based BCWSA asks customers to be mindful of their water usage and limit consumption where possible.
BCWSA’s wholesale water supplier, North Wales Water Authority, has also notified its customers to reduce excessive water use.
Prolonged hot and dry conditions can elevate water demands and potentially lower system pressures and availability.
The BCWSA serves several areas, including Bensalem Township, Falls Township, Bristol Township, Northampton Township, Middletown Township, Langhorne Borough, Penndel Borough, Hulmeville Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Newtown Township, and Newtown Borough.
To help conserve water and save money, BCWSA offers these tips:
- Run dishwashers and clothes washers only when fully loaded.
- Defrost frozen food in the refrigerator or microwave instead of using running water.
- Use two basins for washing and rinsing dishes by hand rather than letting the water run.
- Repair dripping faucets and leaky toilets to prevent wasting thousands of gallons of water annually.
- Install low-flow faucets, shower heads, reduced-flow toilet flushing equipment, and water-saving appliances.
