Community Comes Together to Support Breast Cancer Patients at ‘Light The Night Pink’ Fundraiser
The Newtown business community painted the town pink throughout October, raising a record amount for Main St., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local breast cancer patients, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
During the Light The Night Pink fundraiser, which included the crowning of Mr. Bucks County for 2024, the business community raised more than $91,000 for the nonprofit. The organization provides essential services such as food assistance, cold capping, integrative services, counseling and therapy, as well as out-of-pocket expenses, and much more to breast cancer patients at Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham, Grand View Health, Doylestown Health, and the Kin Wellness and Support Center.
This year’s fundraising significantly surpassed last year’s total of $68,000.
The evening featured twelve contestants who showcased men’s formal wear from Giovanni’s Fine Fashions on a pink carpet along South State Street, that culminated 45 days of fundraising by the participants. Joe DeLuca, known as Mr. November, was crowned Mr. Bucks County after raising an impressive $51,000, the highest amount raised by any contestant.
“It’s an honor to be able to give back,” said DeLuca.
