Grand View Health in Sellersville has set a year-end target for completing its merger with Bethlehem-based St. Luke’s University Health Network, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Grand View CEO Douglas Hughes informed bond investors that due diligence regarding the potential merger “is in full swing and going well.”
The merger process for the two health system includes changes to bylaws that govern Grand View’s foundation board, hospital board, and medical staff.
If the Bucks County health system’s member substitution agreement allowing it to become part of St. Luke’s is signed by December 31, Grand View expects to receive regulatory approval for the deal in the first half of next year.
The two health systems announced in September that they were conducting affiliation discussions and had already signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore a potential merger. Grand View Health is among the few remaining single-hospital health systems in Greater Philadelphia.
Grand View Health recently finished the largest expansion project in its history. The health system opened a $198 million patient care pavilion at Grand View Hospital last year.
