The seventh-generation Ely Farm Products in Newtown is primarily known for its meats. They produce locally raised beef, pork, lamb, veal, and chicken. They are also known for holiday hams, award-winning honey bologna, and deer processing during hunting season.
However, the Ely family also makes outstanding cheeses sold at their well-stocked farm store.
One of the local favorites is Ely Farm Cheese, a mellow, snackable Colby style that is also available smoked. Another highlight is Washington Crossing. The American Cheese Society award winner is a bold, flavorful American original, featuring the smooth texture of Fontina and Parmigiano-style kick.
