For the past several weeks, authorities in Bensalem Township have been searching for an elusive pig that has been successfully evading capture, writes John Paul for 6abc.
Area residents said they have seen the pig and even fed the animal, but have been unable to catch it.
“He is a cute pig, as far as pigs go,” said resident Vicki Shaup.
Shaup noticed the pig on her usual Monday walk. At first, she thought it was a dog, until she got closer.
“I saw the spots on it,” she said. “I thought it didn’t look like a dog. I’m like, ‘I think that’s the pig that everyone’s been looking for.’”
Local leaders say the pig, nicknamed Oscar by neighbors, was last spotted near Bensalem Boulevard and Flushing Road. Police urge anyone who sees Oscar to call the non-emergency line at 215-633-3719.
Officers are worried it may walk into a roadway or be impacted by cold weather.
“I’m worried about the pig,” said Shaup. “I’ll tell you that someone is going to do something to the pig because people are making all kinds of bacon jokes.”
Once captured, Oscar will be taken to a rescue and put up for adoption.
