Things were decidedly pink Oct. 17 when State Street in Newtown became the scene of an annual breast cancer fundraiser block party and fashion show benefitting breast cancer patients, writes Rachel Moore for PHL17 News.

Money raised went to Main St, a local family-run nonprofit that supports breast cancer patients across Bucks County through treatment and recovery.

Small businesses along the historic street have been participating throughout October in Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a series of community events.

Gina Santoro, owner of Giovanni’s Fine Fashions, a men’s clothing shop, celebrated her shop’s 10-year anniversary Oct. 17, preparing for the evening’s block party, fashion show, and the crowning of the Mr. Bucks County pageant.

“Four of us got together and we wanted to do something good for the town,” Santoro said.

Other Main St activities in October throughout Bucks County included Sip & Shop events, and a Breast Cancer Walk.

Upcoming activities include a “TP My House” event in Doylestown on Oct. 30 and a family style dinner party Nov. 1 at Dockside Bensalem.

Main St was founded by Keith Fenimore and his wife, Kristina. Fenmore is the son and grandson of women who have faced breast cancer.
