Carina Sorella, a new easygoing neighborhood bistro, is one of the newest additions to Bryn Mawr’s dining scene, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.
The new restaurant is a classic study in white and black with forest green accents. While it’s new, Carina Sorella has already seen some sizable crowds, even on weeknights.
Prior to becoming Carina Sorella, the buildings that houses it was the long-running Bryn Mawr Flower Shop and adjacent copy center. The two buildings were demolished and later combined to create a 100-seat restaurant, 20-seat oval bar, and 24-seat private dining room upstairs.
“We want to be your ‘everyday’ Italian restaurant,” said Operations Director Dave Sherman. “You can come in for a Caesar salad and meatballs and a glass of wine or enjoy the full experience.”
The menu features the usual Italian dishes like five pizzas, seven homemade pastas, chicken parm, and a smattering of seafood dishes. There are also some other standouts, like the shareable antipasti, Pear Pizza, and the meatballs with whipped ricotta.
The portions are mostly generous.
Carina is owned and operated by DRC Collective, a growing restaurant group that includes The Diving Horse in Avalon and Pub & Kitchen and Trattoria Carina in Center City.
