Anthony Picone, owner of Bella Sicily in Morrisville, is passing the torch to his daughter after 51 years of cooking pizzas.

Anthony Picone, a native of Sicily and owner of Bella Sicily in Morrisville, is passing on the torch to his daughter and son-in-law after 51 years of cooking pizzas, reports Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.

Bella Sicily is Picone’s eighth pizza shop between New York and Pennsylvania spanning more than a half century.

“I opened my first pizza place in 1973, which was in Queens,” said Picone. “I’ve been running eight places, one at a time, but this will be last.”

He is finally ready to retire and pass the ownership of the business to the next generation, who will carry on the family tradition.

“When my dad started, it was him and my mom,” said Picone’s daughter, Gabriella Catania. “And then when I came along, I grew up in a pizzeria.”

Catania added that her father is a people person who made a good impression on all the customers they have had over the years.

“I just hope that I can be as good of a person as he is, that people will remember me for that as well,” she added.
