Trae Anthony grew up playing more baseball than anything else, even though his two older brothers, Lynn and Brandon, were both excellent football players for the Bristol High School Warriors.
“I really liked baseball, and I still do,” Anthony said. “And I also played basketball, but with my older brothers both playing football, I knew I had to give it a try.”
He didn’t even get to football until fifth grade but when he did, he really liked it and knew he would stay with it.
Anthony, a four-year starter at cornerback for the Warriors, is keeping an 11-year family tradition going as the third, and last, Anthony brother to play football for Bristol.
Since 2014, the team’s always had an Anthony brother playing, according to Bristol head coach Mike Ciotti.
“All three are really good football players and the Anthony family has been good to Bristol football,” he said.
Trae made a good impression early when he successfully made a big tackle as a 110-pound freshman.
“That’s when we started to realize we had another really good Anthony brother who was only going to get better and better,” Ciotti said.
