Stockton Inn, which has a more than 300-year-history, was recently reopened as a hotel and restaurant after years in the dark.

The Stockton Inn, a more than 300-year-old property in Hunterdon County in Stockton, New Jersey has served many purposes over the years and it has now reopened as a chic hotel and restaurant, writes Judi Franco for New Jersey 101.5.

The property has been around since 1710, becoming an important historical structure in The Garden State.

For the past seven years, it sat dark with doubts creeping in about whether it could become anything.

New owners Steven Grabowski and Cheryl Olsten helped lead a long renovation of the property. This includes bringing nine rooms spread across three buildings; that being the original inn and two carriage houses.

While prospects will have to wait a bit to start booking hotel renovations, they have opened their first restaurant, called Dog & Deer.

It’s casual but elevated menu includes highlights like the D&D patty melt and the crab and artichoke gratin. It also features raw beer and craft cocktails.

A second restaurant, The Finch, is expected to open by the end of September, and it will offer an intimate dining experience with only 13 tables.
