Quaker publisher Gabriel Ehri will present Reflections on the 2024 World Quaker Plenary in South Africa at the Newtown Quaker Meetinghouse on Sept. 22, writes Norval Reece for the Patch.
After the presentation, a worship in the manner of Friends will be held. The public is invited to all events.
Ehri traveled to Johannesburg in August with colleagues to attend the World Quaker Plenary. More than 250 Quakers gathered for the event, representing six continents as well as the full spectrum of Quaker practice and theology.
Ehri will share stories about people and ideas he encountered and share what it might mean for Quakers in Pennsylvania.
Ehri is a member of Green Street Friends Meeting in Philadelphia. He has served on the staff of Friends Publishing, a Quaker nonprofit, for more than two decades and has been its Executive Director since 2011.
To provide accessibility to the Quaker message, the nonprofit publishes the monthly Friends Journal, which has roots leading back to 1827, the QuakerSpeak video series, the Quakers Today podcast, and the Quaker.org site.
